Rustic Rye Brownies

Made with Healer’s Find Light Rye Flour

Yield: 8x8 pan | Prep time: 10 mins | Bake time: 22–26 mins

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
  • ¾ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (or chopped dark chocolate)
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup brown sugar (light or dark)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup Healer’s Find Light Rye Flour
  • ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ¼ tsp sea salt
  • Optional: ½ cup chopped walnuts or chocolate chunks for mix-ins

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Line an 8x8-inch pan with parchment paper or lightly grease.
  2. In a saucepan over low heat, melt the butter and chocolate chips together, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  3. Stir in the sugar and brown sugar, then beat in the eggs one at a time until the mixture is glossy and thick. Add the vanilla extract.
  4. Sift in the rye flour, cocoa powder, and salt, and fold gently until just combined. (Don’t overmix—rye is delicate!)
  5. Fold in any optional mix-ins like nuts or extra chocolate.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  7. Bake for 22–26 minutes, until the edges are set but the center still has a slight jiggle. A toothpick should come out with moist crumbs.
  8. Let cool in the pan for 20 minutes, then lift out and cool fully before slicing. The flavor deepens as they sit!

Flavor Notes:

Rye adds an earthy, slightly nutty flavor that pairs beautifully with dark chocolate. These brownies have a rustic soul and a tender bite—no wheat, no compromise.
